The P-1 visa is for people who perform as athletes, individually or as part of a group or team that is internationally recognized or a person who performs with or is essential to an entertainment group that has been recognized internationally as being outstanding in the discipline for a sustained period of time.
If the individual is a performer and part of a group, she must show that she has had a sustained and substantial relationship with the group over a period of at least one year. P-1 visas are available to certain minor leaguers, amateurs or professionals.
Internationally recognized is defined as "a high level of achievement . . . evidenced by a degree of skill and recognition substantially above that ordinarily encountered, to the extent such achievement is renowned, leading or well-known in more than one country.
"Michael from the American Federation of Musicians just called me to let me know that we have already been approved by CIS for the new VISA applications. I believe his exact words were: 'I don't know how the $@*# your lawyer did it, but he has some $@*#ing pull. I've never seen that happen before.' Appreciate you always Jay. Thank you!!!"
