Napolitano is right in targeting employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants, and I like her emphasis on ensuring that the rule of law applies both internally and across the border. I would have liked to hear more specifics about her policies for enforcement and administration.

As a Latino, I applaud Napolitano’s crackdown on the demand side of illegal immigration but there is only so much we can do from this side of the border. Where is Mexico’s accountability here? Mexico needs to stop exporting their social problems, political corruption, and poverty and unloading their economic failures on the US taxpayers through illegal immigration.
